I absolutely love this little robot, and all of the neat things he does by default, and all the things you can have him do... I am glad that there are firmware updates, and that the developers are passionate about improving the way he operates... If I had one thing I would like them to add, it would be controller support. I find, even if the network has a moderate amount of leg, had in controller support, which would make proper use of the analog movement of this drone, would help considerably. The on-screen controls can be made better, by not having to relegate a person's digits to a particular location on the screen. If it is on the left side of the phone anywhere, then that should be the dead zone for movement, and the same for rotational control. The reason why I mention this, is that I have large hands, with a 7-in phone, and at times, to reach down where those controls are positioned, leads to cramping, and I find that I sway this little guy from left to right, unnecessarily. Otherwise, I am very impressed, and I love to make use of him around the house, especially during the night. The two-way communication feature is great, because it can ease my pets to this foreign body in the house. I love learning the scratch code base, and I'm thrilled to find out all of these additional things, that can be done. There is another thing I would like. An accessory, that is a larger base station, that is wireless. I understand the robot would need an attachment at the bottom, but a larger Wireless dock, would make it easier to manually dock the robot by the user's control. Where a person can just use the camera and face the dock, and slowly ride on in there. This would be an absolute blessing! Scout does well enough talking on his own, but when you watch that happen, I kind of feel bad for the little guy. I mean, he does it, and it's really cool, but I feel guilty watching him try. So I go over and pick him up and pop him in the dock. It would just be nice, if I could take control, and do that myself, instead of blindly trying to turn around and backing into it, which leads to frustration. In closing. The robot is awesome, and there are just a few things that would make him absolutely incredible in every way.
1. User position controls on the phone.
2. Game controller support.
3. A wireless attachment and dock, assisting in manual docking and charging remotely. (Allowing the user to take control, and drive right onto the dock themselves.)
It is a small list, but it is my dream list for the scout. If it seems good to you, please make that happen.
Thank you very much, for all of your hard work. This little guy has been a real blessing to me.
Punctual automatic patrol with smart notification not working properly.
The robot slips and loses its way and you have to take out a subscription to get the notifications.
And the worst it is impossible to connect remotely without being on a wifi connection.
I am an original backer. There are people who backed this project that obviously didn't realize it was on Kickstarter and not Amazon. We got to enjoy the development of scout, which I very much enjoyed and the company was hugely transparent and honest for the entire process.
I am in the US and just received mine yesterday. My son and I have been playing with it non-stop since. It so much fun designing patrols, and coding (hopefully we will have an SDK in the future). My son (4yr) loves to just drive it around, under the couch, scare the dogs with the speaker, etc. He also uses it to go into his dark room before he does since he is scared. For the size, there is so much packed into this, it is able to navigate obstacles (stationary, dynamic and living) with ease. It is truly huge fun and for the price is 100% worth it. Seriously going to purchase at least one more for the house and the accessories that come out later on. AWESOME JOB MOOREBOT TEAM, CONGRATS!
The robot is extremely easy to use..the app is really easy to understand...the company put alot of heart and features in the robot...it's definitely a winner...but I'm still waiting for the program to make it track the red ball like a dog..that's the main reason I purchased it as per the company's promise to share the program..it's definitely a great robot.
( 5 star's for now )
Robot ordered came quickly...was a breeze to setup and the app is easy to understand...would love to know where to download the program to make it follow the red ball like a dog...that's the main reason I purchased this cute robot...keep up the great work guy's...thank you for the excellent service on my robot.
